Strengths and weaknesses
Shopify
- Fast to launch a professional-looking store
- Reliable hosting and checkout that scale easily
- Huge app store for marketing, shipping and more
- Monthly app fees add up quickly
- Extra transaction fees without Shopify Payments
Shopify is the easiest way to start and grow an online store. Themes look professional out of the box, checkout converts well with Shop Pay, and the app store covers almost any need. The same system runs in-person sales through Shopify POS, and the Sidekick AI assistant helps with setup and reporting. The catch: costs add up with apps, premium themes and extra transaction fees if you skip Shopify Payments.

Zoho CRM
- Deep customization at a low price
- Useful free edition for very small teams
- Strong privacy policy with no ad business
- Busy interface with a steeper learning curve
- Customer support can be slow or uneven
Zoho CRM gives you deep customization for much less than the big enterprise names. Blueprint enforces your sales process, the Zia AI assistant predicts deals and suggests next steps, and it connects to many other Zoho apps for email, accounting and support. Zoho's stance of no ads and no selling customer data is a real plus. The downsides: the interface is busy, setup takes effort, and support quality varies.
