Strengths and weaknesses
Tiimo
- Makes time visible for people who lose track of it
- AI breaks big tasks into small steps
- Works on phone, watch and web
- Free version has a limited set of tools
- Identifiers are used for tracking
Tiimo turns your day into a colorful visual timeline, so time becomes something you can see instead of something that slips away. A focus timer counts down each task, widgets and Live Activities keep the next step in view, and the AI planner turns a brain dump into realistic steps with time estimates. It won iPhone App of the Year at the 2025 App Store Awards. The free version is limited, and Pro is needed for the web planner.

Forest
- Playful motivation that works well for students
- Core timer and blocking are free
- Group sessions keep friends accountable
- Free tier now shows ads
- Allow lists and extra trees need Forest Plus
- Privacy label declares tracking
Forest turns focus into something you can see. Start a timer and a tree grows; leave to scroll and it withers. Over time you build a forest of focused hours, and it can now block distracting apps during sessions and on a schedule. Since December 2025 it has been a free download, with ads and a Forest Plus subscription replacing the old one-time price. It is still charming, but no longer ad-free.
