Strengths and weaknesses
CARROT Weather
- Deepest customization of any weather app
- Personality makes checking the forecast fun
- Privacy label shows no data linked to you
- Most useful features need Premium Club
- Android app hasn't been updated since 2023
- Many tiers to choose between
CARROT Weather is the rare app that is both the most customizable forecast on your iPhone and the funniest. Pick a personality from polite to profane, then build your own layout, choose data sources like AccuWeather, Apple Weather or Foreca, and add radar, lightning and rain alerts. Widgets, Apple Watch complications and CarPlay are excellent. Most of that needs Premium Club, and the Android version is years behind.

Acme Weather
- Shows how confident each forecast is
- Minute-by-minute rain timing
- Nothing linked to you per its privacy label
- iPhone only, no Android
- No free tier after the 14-day trial
Acme Weather comes from the people who made Dark Sky, and it shows. Down-to-the-minute rain forecasts are back, but the clever part is honesty: extra forecast lines show how sure the prediction is and what else might happen. Maps cover radar, lightning, snow totals and hurricane tracks, and users can file condition reports. It's iPhone-only and has no free tier after the trial, so you're paying for the approach.
