Strengths and weaknesses
Raycast
- Much faster and smarter than Spotlight
- Free plan covers most daily use
- Extension store links many developer tools
- AI and Cloud Sync need a paid plan
- The best AI models need the $20 Plus plan
- Windows version is still missing some Mac features
Raycast replaces Spotlight with a launcher that does far more. You get clipboard history, window management, snippets, quick math and lots of community extensions. Version 2.0 added an AI core that runs multi-step tasks. You can bring your own models, even ones on your computer. Most of the launcher is free, but AI and Cloud Sync need Pro. The Windows and iPhone apps are useful but still behind the Mac.
