Strengths and weaknesses
How We Feel
- Completely free, from a nonprofit
- Data stays on your device by default
- Strategies take a minute or two
- Android version is rated lower than iOS
- Not a substitute for professional care
How We Feel helps you find the exact word for a feeling, which makes it easier to act on. It was conceived with Yale's Center for Emotional Intelligence, and it links your check-ins to sleep, exercise and other Apple Health trends so patterns show up over time. Short video strategies can shift a bad moment in about a minute, and you can share feelings with close friends. It's free and keeps data on your device by default.

ScrollCop
- A friend can hold the key, so blocks actually stick
- Free with no subscription, no ads and no account
- Never learns which apps you block
- iPhone only, with no Android or desktop version
- Blocks whole apps, so it can't block only Reels or Shorts
ScrollCop blocks the apps and sites that eat your time using Apple's Screen Time, so blocked apps really disappear and stay blocked even if you close ScrollCop. Every block starts with nobody able to end it early, and its best idea is the key: a friend can hold a one-time PIN, so you can't quietly end a block at midnight. Daily schedules, an SOS button for urges and short Boredom Gym exercises round it out. It is iPhone-only, but free with no subscription.
