Strengths and weaknesses
Gathr
- Free for you and your guests, with no ads
- Handles multi-day weddings with many functions
- Guests reply without installing anything
- Hosts need an account, and the app is iPhone and iPad only
- No registry or wedding website builder
Gathr handles the whole guest side of a wedding or party: invitations guests answer from a link, RSVPs, a checklist, a budget and a schedule for every function, from mehendi to reception. A co-host can plan alongside you, and your chosen theme carries through to the guests' RSVP page. Guests need no app or account, and nobody pays a fee. It is less of a wedding website builder than Zola, but for organising the guest list it is excellent and free.

Eventbrite
- Huge range of local events in one place
- Tickets stored in the app for easy entry
- Simple setup for organizers of any size
- Service fees on most paid tickets
- Promoted listings can crowd the feed
- Leaner team after the 2026 acquisition
Eventbrite is still the default way to find and book local events, from workshops and gigs to festivals and networking nights. Your feed learns what you like, you can follow friends and organizers, and tickets sit in the app or your phone's wallet. Organizers get solid ticketing and check-in tools. The downsides are fees on paid tickets, promoted listings in the feed, and some uncertainty after its 2026 sale to Bending Spoons.
