Strengths and weaknesses
1Password
- Best-in-class design and autofill on every platform
- Strong security model with a Secret Key
- Family and team sharing are easy to manage
- No free plan, only a trial
- Costs more than Bitwarden for similar basics
1Password is the most polished password manager you can buy. Autofill is reliable across apps and browsers, Watchtower flags weak and breached logins, and passkeys, Travel Mode and shared vaults are built in. Its Secret Key design adds a strong extra layer of protection to your account password. The catch: there's no free plan. Get it for a family or team that needs something everyone will use.

Mullvad VPN
- Collects almost nothing about you
- One flat price with no renewal surprises
- Open-source apps and independent audits
- Less reliable for unblocking streaming services
- No free plan, and no port forwarding
Mullvad is the most privacy-focused VPN you can use. You sign up with a random account number instead of an email, can pay with cash or cryptocurrency, and get one flat monthly price with no upsells or long-term deals. The apps are open source, servers run from RAM, and DAITA helps hide your traffic patterns. It has fewer streaming tricks than mainstream VPNs.
