Strengths and weaknesses
Kalend
- Four planning tools in one app, with nothing locked
- No account; syncs through your own iCloud
- Habit streaks forgive a missed day
- iPhone and iPad only, no Android, Mac or web app
- No shared lists or team features
Kalend folds a to-do list, a calendar, a habit tracker and a journal into one native iPhone and iPad app, and asks nothing for it. There is no account and no company server: everything syncs through your own iCloud and works offline. It is not as deep as Todoist or Things for complex projects, but for planning a normal day it covers a lot of ground for free.

Todoist
- Fast, natural language task entry
- Apps for every major platform plus browser add-ons
- Clean design that stays simple as lists grow
- Many useful features require Pro
- No built-in focus timer or habit tracking
Todoist is the to-do app that works everywhere and stays out of your way. Type 'call Sam every Friday at 3pm' and it sets the date and repeat for you. Projects, labels, filters and shared projects scale from a grocery list to team work, and sync across devices is fast and dependable. The free plan covers the basics, but more projects, calendar layouts and longer activity history need Pro.
